Historical Photographs from the US Mexico Border at the University of Texas El Paso Library
Historical Photographs from the US Mexico Border at The University of Texas at El Paso Library.Photographic collections at the University of Texas at El Paso Library, dating from approximately 1880 to 2000, document many historic events of national significance. These collections of original photographs, however, suffer from deterioration linked to their physical composition and storage conditions. In order to slow the deterioration of the photographs, the University of Texas at El Paso seeks funding to undertake a three-year effort to improve the storage conditions of the photographs and to prioritize the most endangered images for reformatting. The project will include approximately 650,000 photographs in 15 collections, and will assure that the valuable research potential held by the photographs will be available to future researchers.
