To complete for publication the papers of Robert Morris from 1781-1784, on a level of scholarly editing consistent with standard of the National Historical Publications Commission. ABSTRACT: To complete for publication the papers of Robert Morris from 1781-1784, on a level of scholarly editing consistent with standard of the National Historical Publications Commission. Will include all that he wrote and all correspondence he received in this period. At this time Morris was Superintendent of Finance and the effective head of Federal government, worked at high-level policy formation and reform of nation's political and economic institutions, formulated economic program for the new nation. His contributions in these spheres can only be compared with those of George Washington in the military and Benjamin Franklin in the Diplomatic spheres. Previous publication are relatively few and incomplete. Papers are a dramatic record of events are probably single most important primary historical source for Revolutionary era yet unpublished. Relevance to Bicentennial. Funds for PI salary, research and editing assistance.
