New Edition of the Major Pseudepigrapha

RE-10058: Project leading to publication of several of most important non-biblical Jewish apocalypses. These writings, which include the Books of Enoch, Jubilees, Second Esdras, the Testament of the Twelve Patriarchs, the Assumption of Moses, Second Baruch, contain Jewish visions of the end of the world, preceded by a cosmic battle in which the forces of light and darkness are engaged, and followed by the restoration of peace and blessedness of earth. The documents are important witnesses to certain kinds of religious understandings that flourished during the period 200 BC and AD 200. These writings will be published separately, in critical editions, including plates of the most important manuscript of each of the writings.
