International Conference Financial Assistance

NEH funds for assistance in increasing participation by American humanists in international scholarly activities. ABSTRACT: Continuation of H66-0-2, H68-0-12, H68-0-94, H69-0-153, fifth year that NEH funds used for assistance in increasing participation by American humanities in international scho9larly activities. Significant for 1) keeping channels of communication open among intellectuals of different cultural backgrounds in order to maintain atmosphere in which humanistic scholarship can transcend national perspective; 2) enabling American humanists, looked to for leadership by international community, to fulfill that role to the limit of their considerable abilities; 3) improving cultural image of U.S. Project serves useful purpose in terms of scholarship and national interest. Priority given to scholars who must attend meetings abroad in capacities as officers or members of governing bodies or as official delegates of American societies belong to international scholarly associations; to scholars belonging to international planning committees for future congresses and conferences; and to members of editorial boards of international journals. Funds for travel, per diem.
