The Jews in Poland, 1918-1939

This study of the Jews in Poland from 1918-1939 concentrates on the interplay of social, economic and political factors in the struggle of this minority for its survival and creative development. Will illuminate and evaluate the methods by which this disadvantaged minority attempted, with differential success, to resist the restrictions and persecutions to which it was subjected and, in addition, to foster a climate of creative self-identity and self-help among all of its members, but among its young in particular. Result will be book-length, multi-authored report, including reproduction and translation of primary documents hitherto unknown to American and European scholars and specializing in this period.
