A Study of the Agents of the Freedmen's Bueau
To write and publish a study of the agents of the Freedmen's Bureau, the federal agency responsible for the care of the freed slaves following the Civil War. No such study has ever been made, although many theories and generalizations about the agents are held by historians. This study will provide more exact knowledge of this important phase of the Reconstruction, especially relevant because this is the period to which Black history historians are beginning to look to discover roots of present-day racial problems.
