The Samuel Gompers Papers

The publication of volume 11 and completion of editorial work on volume 12 of a twelve-volume edition of the papers of Samuel Gompers. (24 months)

The Samuel Gompers Project, under the direction of Dr. Peter J. Albert and Dr. Grace Palladino, is collecting the papers of Samuel Gompers (1850-1924), publishing a twelve-volume, chronologically arranged, carefully annotated, and thoroughly indexed printed edition of the most important documents, and producing a comprehensive microfilm edition of previously unmicrofilmed and unpublished documents. We have now published nine printed volumes and two major collections of microfilm. Volumes 10 and 11 are at press and await publication -- the first will be released early in 2007 and the second will come out subsequently. We have completed the selection of documents for volume 12, the final book in this series, and are now proceeding with transcribing, proofreading, and annotating the book. During the term of this grant, July 1, 2007, to June 30, 2009, the Project will see the publication of volume 11 and will finish work on volume 12.
