The Papers of Howard Washington Thurman
Preparation for publication of Volumes 2, 3, and 4 of the papers of Howard Thurman.
The Howard Thurman Papers Project, a research project of the Leadership Center at Morehouse College, seeks $142,068 from the NEH, Scholarly Editions Program for 2009-2010 to complete its editing work of a four -volume, chronologically arranged documentary edition published by the University of South Carolina Press on Rev. Howard Thurman, an African American theologian who was one of the twentieth-century's most influential American religious figures and theologians of non-violent social change, civic culture and democracy. Each volume will include over 200 annotated documents, a critical introduction, detailed chronology, photographic and illustrations section, appendix and index. Funding from the NEH will enable the Project to submit volumes III and IV to the publisher and to prepare the edition for publication.
