Convivencia: The Age of Muslims, Jews, and Christians in Medieval Spain

Scripting of a two-hour historical television documentary that examines the complex period of Muslim, Christian, and Jewish coexistence in medieval Spain.

In our time, when Islam, Judaism and Christianity seem more inclined to violent conflict than peaceful cooperation, few remember a period when Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together in relatively harmonious, mutually enriching cultures. This two-hour documentary examines "Convivencia," the rich and complex period of coexistence in Spain that began with the Muslim conquest in 711 and continued in many ways, despite the consolidation of Christian power, into the 14th century. While "Convivencia" will reveal the immense intellectual and artistic accomplishments born of this interaction, it will also explore how intermittent warfare, religious martyrdoms, wholesale massacres, profound political turmoil and social upheaval marked this era.
