A World Ablaze: The Rise of Martin Luther and the Birth of the Reformation (Book)
Title: A World Ablaze: The Rise of Martin Luther and the Birth of the Reformation
Author: Craig Harline
Abstract: 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's 95 theses, which means scores of books are bound to be published. This one focuses on the first crucial years of Luther's fame, from the time he as an obscure monk wrote up his theses, until as a celebrity he came out of hiding in 1522 to start his new religious program. The book especially focuses on telling the story from Luther's point of view, instead of telling it as if the outcome were obvious or inevitable, which results in a much more dramatic and tension-filled story than otherwise.
Year: 2017
Publisher: Oxford University Press
Type: Single author monograph
